  PUBLIC TESTIMONY

Public testimony may be taken at Council meetings, committee meetings, scoping meetings, or public hearings on issues where the Council is scheduled to take action. Written comments can also be provided directly to the Council for purposes of satisfying public input on Council actions, and such comments will be incorporated as part of the Council administrative record. All comments will be reviewed and considered in the management process.
 

PUBLIC SCOPING HEARINGS

Public scoping hearings are held to discuss and solicit public comment prior to the development or revision (through amendment or framework adjustment) of fishery management plans.  Currently, there are no scheduled public scoping hearings.
 

PUBLIC HEARINGS

Public hearings are held to review draft fishery management plans/amendments/frameworks and solicit public comments prior to final implementation.

  • Amendment 5 to the Monkfish FMP:

  • The New England Fishery Management Council is the lead Council on this Joint New England / Mid-Atlantic FMP.  Public Hearings originally scheduled for February 24 and 25 have been rescheduled to March 8 and 9 respectively.  The Public Comment Period for Amendment 5 was originally scheduled to expire March 5, 2010, however this has been extended to March 9. 2010 See the Notice of Public Hearings below for details on hearing locations, dates.

OTHER COMMENTING OPPORTUNITIES

Occasionally, opportunities arise outside of the standard Council schedule that allow for public comment on potential fishery management actions.
