Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Monitoring Committee Meeting

The Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Monitoring Committee will meet on Tuesday, January 29 at the Embassy Suites Inner Harbor, 222 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, MD 21202, Telephone: 410-727-2222. The purpose of this meeting is to review updated summer flounder stock assessment information and recommend revised 2019 and new 2020-2021 commercial and recreational Annual Catch Limits (ACLs), Annual Catch Targets (ACTs), commercial quotas, and recreational harvest limits for summer flounder. The Committee will also recommend recreational management measures for summer flounder in 2019.

The purpose of this meeting is to consider 2019 recreational management measures for summer flounder, scup, and black sea bass. In light of the ongoing benchmark stock assessment for summer flounder, with peer review scheduled for late November 2018, the Monitoring Committee will consider how to approach development of 2019 summer flounder recreational measures after the assessment results are available. In addition, the Monitoring Committee will receive an update on a recreational Management Strategy Evaluation (MSE) for summer flounder. For scup and black sea bass, the Monitoring Committee will recommend federal waters measures for consideration by the MAFMC and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Board in December 2018.

The Monitoring Committee will also review analysis of proposed changes in the commercial scup incidental possession limits and may develop plans for reviewing the commercial scup incidental possession limits in future years.

The MAFMC’s Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Monitoring Committee, with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Technical Committee, will hold a workshop October 27 - 28, 2015 to review methods, datasets, and considerations for recommending and evaluating recreational management measures for these three species.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott Baltimore BWI Airport, 1671 West Nursery Road, Linthicum, Maryland, 21090; telephone: (410)-859-8855.

Spiny Dogfish Monitoring Committee Meeting

Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Monitoring Committee Meeting

The Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Monitoring Committee will meet on Friday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m. to review and discuss previously implemented 2015 annual catch targets (ACTs) and other associated management measures for the summer flounder, scup, and black sea bass fisheries. The Monitoring Committee may consider recommending changes to the implemented 2015 ACTs and management measures as necessary.
