Fishery Management Specialist
Julia Beaty joined the Council staff in February 2015. She is the staff lead on scup and the ongoing Chub Mackerel Amendment. She is also the lead on the Unmanaged Forage Omnibus Amendment, which will likely be implemented in mid-2017. She also assists with a comprehensive review of the Council’s essential fish habitat designations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Smith College and a MS in Marine Policy and a MS in Marine Biology from the University of Maine. Prior to joining the Council she worked as a contractor for the National Marine Fisheries Service in Orono, Maine and spent two years in Anchorage, Alaska with the Alaska Marine Conservation Council.
