Council Meeting in Baltimore, MD: August 10-12, 2004

July 19, 2004

The public is invited to attend the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council's meeting at the Wyndham Baltimore Inner Harbor, 101 Fayette Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 (telephone 410-752-1100), August 10-12, 2004.

On Tuesday, August 10, the Executive Committee will meet from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and the Council will convene at 10:00 and meet until 5:00 p.m. On Wednesday, August 11, new and reappointed members will be sworn into office from 8:00-8:10 a.m. The Council will meet jointly with the ASMFC's Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Boards from 8:10 am-5:30 p.m. On Thursday, August 12, the Ecosystems Committee will meet from 8:00-9:30 a.m. and the Council will meet from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m.

- Review and discuss Council relationship with NMFS, NOAA, DOC, and U.S. Congress vis-à-vis "teamwork and cooperation"

11:30 - 1:00 Lunch at Phillips Seafood Restaurant at the Inner Harbor
1:00 - 2:30 Report of the 39th Stock Assessment Review Committee
- Review summary results of Committee
2:30 - 5:00 Finalize Bluefish Management Measures for 2005 in conjunction with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Bluefish Board
- Review Bluefish Monitoring Committee's recommendations regarding
2005 harvest level and associated management measures
- Recommend bluefish harvest level for 2005 and associated management measures
5:00 End of Council Day
The following two items (although not Council initiated) are included for purposes of notifying interested parties of the timing and purpose of these two meetings.
5:00 - 7:00 ASMFC Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Board Meeting
- Review and decide action regarding Addendum XIII (Multi-Year Specifications)
7:00 - 9:00 NFI-Scientific and Monitoring Committee Workshop
- Develop protocol for the 2005 MAFMC RSA project entitled: "Loligo squid bycatch reduction, gear development and commercial scale test" in conjunction with NMFS scientists, industry, and the MAFMC.
