NOAA Fisheries has announced a new rule to protect unmanaged forage species in the Mid-Atlantic.

Northeast Fisheries Science Center stock assessment and cooperative research staff will visit several groundfish ports between August 15 and September 7 to discuss the 2017 Groundfish Operational Assessments with commercial and recreational fishermen.
The New York State Energy and Research Development Authority will hold open houses during the upcoming August Council Meeting to provide fisheries stakeholders with an opportunity to learn about and provide input to the New York State Offshore Wind Master Plan.
NOAA Fisheries is requesting comments on a proposed rule to implement the Omnibus Acceptable Biological Catch (ABC) Framework Adjustment for the Mid-Atlantic Council's fishery management plans. Comments are due August 18, 2017.

The Northeast Fisheries Science Center is currently seeking stock assessment workshop (SAW) working group applicants for the benchmark summer flounder stock assessment. Applications are due August 3.
NOAA Fisheries is asking for comments on a proposed rule to add blueline tilefish to the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council's Golden Tilefish Fishery Management Plan.
Mid-Atlantic Council to Hold Scoping Hearings for Surfclam and Ocean Quahog Excessive Shares Amendment
The Council will hold four scoping hearings in July to solicit public input on the Excessive Shares Amendment to the Atlantic Surfclam and Ocean Quahog FMP. Written comments may be submitted through July 21, 2017.
NOAA Fisheries has published a notice of availability for Amendment 6 to the Tilefish Fishery Management Plan (previously referred to as the "Blueline Tilefish Amendment"). Comments on the amendment will be accepted through August 14, 2017.
The Council has approved the Squid Amendment to the Atlantic Mackerel, Squid, and Butterfish Fishery Management Plan.

Request for Proposals: Evaluation of F-Based Management for the Recreational Summer Flounder Fishery
The Council is seeking a contractor to evaluate the feasibility of developing a fishing mortality (F) based management approach for the recreational summer flounder fishery. Proposals are due by June 19, 2017.
NOAA Fisheries has published a proposed rule for the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s Unmanaged Forage Omnibus Amendment.
Six scoping hearings will be held May 4 through May 25, 2017. Written comments are due by May 31, 2017.
