IMPORTANT: The deadline for this federal funding opportunity has been extended to September 30, 2014. Please click here to read the revised announcement.

NMFS, with assistance from the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (Council), is soliciting proposals that address Mid-Atlantic RSA research priorities concerning summer flounder, scup, black sea bass, longfin squid, Illex squid, Atlantic mackerel, butterfish, bluefish, and spiny dogfish. Proceeds from the sale of research quota are used to pay for research costs and to compensate fishing vessel owners that harvest RSA quota. No Federal funds are provided for research under this notification. Projects funded under the Mid-Atlantic RSA Program must enhance the knowledge of subject Mid-Atlantic fishery resources or contribute to the body of information on which Council management decisions are made. Proposals must investigate research priorities identified by the Council, which are detailed under the Program Priorities section of this announcement.

The deadline for submitting proposals/applications is 5 p.m. EDT on Monday, August 11, 2014.
