NOAA Fisheries has approved the 2014 final specifications for the Atlantic bluefish fishery. The 2014 Atlantic bluefish total allowable landings are 21.081 million lb. After transferring 3.340 million lb from the recreational sector to the commercial sector as provided by the regulations, and deducting the research set-aside quota of 99,000 lb, the final specifications are as follows:
- Commercial quota – 7,458,570 lb
- Recreational harvest limit – 13,523,032 lb
- Recreational possession limit – 15 bluefish per person
Effective Date: July 21, 2014
Based on updated landings information through December 31, 2013, no commercial bluefish quota overages occurred in 2013.
