The Northeast Fisheries Science Center is soliciting working group applicants for several upcoming research track stock assessments for golden tilefish, sea scallop, and/or yellowtail flounder.

About Stock Assessment Working Groups
Stock Assessment Working Groups (WGs) are responsible for developing and implementing the research plan for research track stock assessments. WGs are composed of NEFSC assessment scientists, other NEFSC scientists, and other federal, state, academic and other non-governmental scientists or experts. Criteria to be considered by the decision committee will include independence, expertise, and education of candidates, as well as Research Track Working Group size, composition and balance.
Development of stock assessments by the WG requires a high level of expertise and commitment. Effective assessment workgroups should be composed of individuals from several disciplines, and have a broad range of skills and expertise. Generally this includes experts in the following core assessment areas: Biology, Ecology/Ecosystem Science, Data and Survey Design (Fishery- Independent, Fishery-Dependent Data), Mathematics/Statistics and Modeling Methods, and Fishery Management. This includes experts involved with state, federal, or international fisheries, academics, or fisheries management entities. Persons familiar with the fishery may also have the necessary expertise.
