The Council and ASMFC will hold a joint bluefish advisory panel meeting on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The meeting will be held via webinar with a telephone-only connection option. Background materials and webinar instructions will be posted at the Council’s website about one week prior to the meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss recent performance of the commercial and recreational fisheries for Atlantic bluefish. The MAFMC and ASMFC staff will work with advisors to develop the 2017 Fishery Performance Report (FPR). Bluefish performance reports for prior years can be found on this page. The intent of this report is to facilitate a venue for structured input from the AP members for the Atlantic Bluefish specifications process. The FPR will be used by the Council, its Scientific and Statistical Committee (SSC) and the Atlantic Bluefish Monitoring Committee (MC), when reviewing (at future meetings), and if necessary revising, the current measures designed to achieve the recommended Atlantic Bluefish catch and landings limits for 2018. The MAFMC and the ASMFC will consider the Fishery Performance Report in August when reviewing fishery specifications (i.e. catch and landings limits and management measures) for 2018.
