New York - Appointed Obligatory Member (2nd term, Exp. 2026)
Paul Risi has been involved in the fishing industry since 1978. Choosing it as a full-time profession in 1981, he spent most of his time in the for-hire sector on the East Coast, mainly in New York’s marine district. He has also spent significant time in several types of commercial fishing and sales. Paul became active in fisheries management in 2002, beginning at the state level by serving on the NY DEC Marine Resource Advisory Council for nine years, and on advisory panels for MAFMC and ASMFC. Shifting his career to maritime education in 2012, he still spends time in the for-hire and commercial fishing industry.
