Tom Schlichter

New York - Appointed At-Large Member (1st term, Exp. 2024)

Tom Schlichter has been an outdoors feature writer, columnist, photographer and seminar speaker for over 40 years with credits in a wide array of national and regional venues. A graduate of Rutgers University with a teaching background, he has served as managing editor of The Fisherman, associate editor at On The Water Magazine, and outdoors columnist for Newsday, one of the nation’s largest newspapers.

A vice president for the New York State Outdoor Writers Association, and a NYS licensed guide, “Outdoor Tom” has also penned several books including Coastal Angling Guide, Northeast Party Boat Fishing, and How to Catch Clams by the Bushel! He caught his first fish, a winter flounder, on Long Island Sound at age 4. Today, the Southold, NY, resident’s fishing knowledge spans the entire spectrum of marine settings as he continues introducing people, young and old, to the thrills of fishing along the mid-Atlantic coast and beyond.
